For the Soft People

Writer: Andrea ValenzuelaAndrea Valenzuela

I ask myself: How am I both vulnerable and soft and fragile and gentle, yet powerful and a force?

I wouldn’t use the word strong to describe myself. Strength, at least the way the world defines it, has never felt like the right fit. I don’t move through life with armor. I don’t muscle my way through pain. I feel everything. I absorb, I break open, I let things touch me deeply. And yet, I know—I know—that I am powerful.

So where does that leave me? How can I hold both?

I think a lot of soft people wonder the same thing. We are taught that power looks like toughness, like endurance, like pushing through. That to be a force, we must be unshaken, unmovable, strong. But that’s not the only kind of power.

Our power is different. It’s quieter. Deeper. The kind the world doesn’t always recognize.

The Power of Softness

You are vulnerable, but that vulnerability is a force—it moves people, it creates connection, it changes things.

You are gentle, but your gentleness is powerful—it doesn’t need to be loud or forceful to make an impact.

You are soft, but your softness is unwavering—it doesn’t mean you bend to everything, it means you move with things.

You are fragile in the way that delicate things still matter—a rare flower, a piece of art, a moment of pure truth. Fragility isn’t a flaw, it’s a reminder that you exist deeply.

You are a force, but not in a way that overpowers—you are a force like the wind, like the tide, like something that shapes the world by simply existing as it is.

For the Ones Who Feel Everything

If you, too, have wondered how you can be both gentle and powerful, let this be your reminder: You don’t have to be “strong” to be a force. You already are one.

Your softness is not something to fix. Your depth is not something to hide. Your power is not something you have to prove.

You are powerful in the way the moon pulls the tides. In the way the wind reshapes the landscape. In the way a single moment of truth can change everything.

You don’t need to be strong to be unshakable. You don’t need to be loud to be heard. You don’t need to be hard to be powerful.

You, exactly as you are, are enough.
